Heavy Duty Castors Take The Weight!

Heavy duty castors, by indication from their name, are made to withstand hard wear, excessive loads, and in some instances extremes of weather. Heavy duty castors can be either swivel castors, fixed castors or lockable castors. Swivelling castors enable the wheel to move in a 360 degree rotation. Fixed castors, alternatively, do not allow rotation, ensuring the wheel moves unidirectionally. Lockable swivelling castors give the user the most flexibility as it allows the wheel to rotate, however this can be locked in position if required to ensure the castor does not move. These heavy duty castors can take loads from 150 kilogram's up to 300 kilogram's each. The most hard wearing wheel options to house within these castors, tends to be rubber, polyurethane wheels or nylon wheels.
Extra Heavy duty castors can do even more! These tough castors can withstand load ratings from 300 kilograms up to 800 kilograms each. Utilised within steel fabrication, industrial and manufacturing environments these castors can not only last the distance, but can also withstand hard wear and tear. Wheel choices tend to be more limited ...
... the heavier duty you go. By far the toughest wheels are polyurethane, nylon or cast iron. From sizes ranging from 5 inches up to 8 inches, these extra heavy duty wheels make light work in excessive environments. The extra heavy duty castors all come with bearings encased within the wheels. This is a necessity when moving extreme loads. Bearings simply reduce friction within the wheel, enabling the castor to move the load more easily. Without these heavyweight bearings, the equipment or machinery would be so much harder to move.
Care should be taken when working in these extreme environments, to choose the most suitable castor and wheels available. For example extra heavy duty castors with a cast iron wheel can in some circumstances, dent and damage soft floors. However in industrial circumstances, the cast iron wheel within these castors provides the ideal choice. It will probably out live both you and I, in terms of its strength, durability and shelf life!
The toughest castors of them all, and indeed king of the crop when it comes to withstanding excessive wear and tear would be the Fabricated Castors. These are extremely heavy duty castors, which are individually welded rather than pressed zinc castors. The castor housing has added durability as it is steel which has been zinc chromatised for protection. Not only do these fabricated castors offer excellent corrosion resistance, but also offer substantial load bearing capabilities. These castors can take loads of well over one and a half tonnes each! Maneuverability is not restricted with fabricated castors, as they are available in either swivel, fixed or swivel with brakes. If your requirement is heavier than one and a half tonnes, there are castors that can go the distance. Twin wheeled fabricated castors can offer as much as two and a half tonnes load capacities at slow speeds, with the option of either cast iron or polyurethane wheels for extra strength, the fabricated castors are really hard to beat.
