We are normally good at doing what we really like to do. But, how'd you feel if someone comes to you, and ask you to do what you really like to do and he/she will pay for it. Does it sounds too good to be true? Well, that's not the case as there are so many people who actually get paid for doing what they like to do (in other words they get paid for sticking to their hobbies). In fact most commercial success stories have one thing in common; majority of the successful businesses are run by someone who really likes doing that particular job. That's not necessarily has to be a job like writing songs, painting or photography, it can be a pretty serious job like consultation or marketing management. All you need to do is to make a product/service out of your hobby and then market it. That may or may not work, but at the end of the day, it's something you like doing, anyway, therefore the size of profits won't matter.
This partiality factor is in fact important in all kinds of professions and not only entrepreneurs. People can excel in any fields only if they are comfortable and compatible with that particular field. You can't ...
... expect an artist do extremely well in mathematics; similarly you can't count on a banker to compose exceptionally good songs. There are exceptions but generally, we're good at some particular fields and not so good at the rest. If given a choice, people would love to choose their hobbies as careers; however we're not given this choice in early stages of our careers. We're forced to select a profession depending in line with the on going demands and trends of market. After some years, it becomes difficult to quit your profession and shift from one profession to another. However, you can always give it a try by starting on experimental basis and making a gradual shift.
Before you think of changing your hobby into business, you must consider the pros and cons. Because no matter how much you like doing it, the business element will bring some responsibilities that you may not like. For example time management, meeting targets, budgeting or decision making. In addition to that, not all hobbies can easily be turned into businesses. Some of the hobbies that are more sellable include cooking, painting, writing, photography, dress designing, event management or coaching. Most of these options can be adapted as a part time business, so you really don't need to leave your job.
