Ten Questions You Should Ask At Your Job Interview

Every potential employer will ask at the end of the interview if you have any questions. You may think you are doing them a favor by telling them "no" but really you are just showing them you are not interested in the company. It is important to do a bit of research about the company prior to your interview to mentally prepare a few quality questions.
1. What qualities would a person have, to achieve success with this company? Hopefully upon answering this question the interviewer will touch base on qualities you have already mentioned that you have.
2. What are the long term goals of the company? This lets the interviewer know that you are looking for a career with a future not a temporary job until you find something better.
3. What does training consist of? This allows the interviewer to invest a little time explaining things that you would find out at an orientation, thus giving you a foot in the door.
4. What do you like about this company? This one is not a popular question but one of the best ones. It allows the interviewer to bond on a more personal level giving them the opportunity ...
... to stray away from the scheduled interview format.
5. What are the general hours for this position? This is more for your benefit to find out. If there are 8am meetings every morning and your daughter doesn't catch the school bus until 8:30am then this job might not work for you. It also allows you to find out if you are "required" and "allowed" to work overtime.
6. How am I evaluated at work? This will tell you if there are 30, 60 or 90 day evaluations that perhaps result in a raise or benefits. It again shows long-term commitment.
7. What are the job tasks? This, like question number three, allows the interviewer to invest orientation type of information in you. If they hire you then it saves them from having to go over so much later which is a benefit for them.
8. Is there room for promotion? Again, a good question to show you are eager to start a career here and it is not a short-term job.
9. Who will I report to? Hopefully the person giving the interview would be your immediate supervisor and the question allows for a bit of an ego boost.
10. What's next? This is helpful to know if you will receive another interview? When you can expect to hear from them? How soon are they looking to make a decision?
The interviewer needs to know things about you but also wants to feel that you re truly interested at the same time, you want to find a job that works for you as well. It is important to find out now instead of investing yours and the employers valuable time to realize later this is not the job for you.
