Sicily was the number one tourist destination in Italy last year and is becoming more and more popular for those who are looking to purchase a home or rent a villa. Financial Times wrote an article last year about Sicily stating thatis one of the last outposts of traditional Italian life and this has to stand for something.

The area offers a rich variety of housing types and as a consequence it can become a headache to make the right choice. With this article we will try to offer some examples in order to create a clearer image regarding the real estate situation in Sicily.

Villa Salonia is situated in the Val di Noto and is considered to be a masterpiece of the 18th century baroque. It is a former noble residence and consists of a villa of about 680 square meters, the two annexes - 130 square meters and the courtyard - 1800 square meters. The villa is on two levels with a grand entrance divided by two arches on the ground floor. If you are planning on renting a Sicily villas why not this one as it is surrounded by high walls covered with bushes and the entrance is made through a gate made of wrought icon that is overlooking the provincial road.
The last example presented in this article is Casale di Pietra which is located not far from Palermo and it has been entirely restored and improved by constructing a private swimming pool with a terrace-solarium. The property is surrounded by a breathtaking countryside view and a peaceful environment.
Of course, these are only three examples of what Sicily villas can offer to the regular tourist. As a general rule, look for houses located along the coast as you will have the possibility to choose from a wide variety of beaches to relax in. Most of the villas come fully equipped from the trivial salt shaker to the much needed iron board. The above three examples are a little bit pricey but there are many other villas that come at a more than affordable price and with great advantages.
All things considered, it does not matter if you are looking for a place near Mt. Etna, Alcantara Valley or Taormina, Sicily has plenty to offer to all kinds of tourists despite culture, habits, hobbies and other characteristics that define a tourist.
