There are many different health benefits to using essential oils. They have the ability to remove tension, relieve pain, enhance blood flow, disinfect skin and treat other problems. They can be an important part of any good skin care routine. The natural healing powers that they hold allow them to effectively treat many irritating aliments that you may suffer from. Essential oils have been used for centuries and are also used for aromatherapy, which is a form of alternative medicine. Although, there are many types of essential oils out there to choose from, only a few are good for treating skin problems. They include:

Sandalwood
Sandalwood has antiseptic and astringent qualities, and is also used for rejuvenation. It has a thick and brownish or yellow color to it. This oil can treat dry, oily, raw or infected skin. It has a sweet, woody and warm fragrance and is also great for acne and skin infection. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties that allow it to help clear away pimples and other skin aliments that may be bothersome. It will not allow for the acne to spread due to any type of infection.

Tea tree oil is known for its wonders as a defense to fight off acne and other skin blemishes. This oil is very useful when you need a spot treatment when you see the first signs of a pimple or blemish appearing. Many people think that popping pimples is the best way to get rid of them, but this is a common misconception. It is much better to apply a small drop of the tree oil, as the pimple will disappear within two to three days of application.

Peppermint
This oil is famous and used worldwide for several purposes. It is used as a cosmetic cleanser, to help clean and purify tired and sluggish skin. This oil has essential anti-inflammatory properties that can help to treat red and irritated skin. Peppermint oil can also be used to treat oily skin conditions and blackheads as well.

Geranium
People who have sensitive skin needs can use this oil. It has amazing properties that help to treat wrinkles and make them diminish in appearance. This oil combined with another essential ingredient called phytessence wakame (gathered from Japanese seawater) has been known to actually reduce the signs of aging when combined with the geranium.

Lavender
We might have saved the best for last with this wonderful essential oil. Lavender is one of the most important essential oils and key for good and healthy skin. It has antifungal and antiseptic strengths. All of these ingredients combined are great for healing minor wounds, soothing the skin and relieving various pains and other conditions. If you take a bath with lavender, it can help to relieve the pain and discomfort from sunburn and other skin discomforts.

Lavender has a special ability to balance out the oil production in the skin and also helps to clear blemishes and evens out skin tone. It's a good addition to your everyday regimen.Lavender is also used in aromatherapy and several aromatic preparations that are made by using its oil. It is also a very calming scent, which makes for a great tonic for the nerves and helps to alleviate headaches and migraines. Many people have also used it for help with sleeping disorders like insomnia. It is an excellent remedy for sore and tense muscles, sprains, backache, rheumatism and other ailments. Massage with the oil can offer relief from pain in the joints, too. It has also been used for help with urinary issues, respiratory disorders, skin and hair care, blood circulation, digestion, insect bites and much more.

Using essential oils can help relieve everyday skin and ailments of the body. They have been proven to work and can produce better results than some other more traditional and common skin treatments and methods. They can also be less costly than other methods. Essential oils are good for many types of uses in everyday life, so do not be afraid to try them. But, remember to never apply directly to the skin.
