What Will Be The Tax Rate On The Iphone After The Gst Is Implemented?

With the introduction of the new tax regime -- Goods and Services Tax (GST) starting July 1, all mobile phones have attracted a 12 per cent of GST, which makes most of the handsets by at least 4-5 per cent expensive when compared to the pre-GST days. But, that's not happening with the products from Apple and a few other. With the coming of GST, Apple iPhones, iPads, iMac, MacBook and other products by the Cupertino major gets a major price cut, by almost 7.5 per cent.

iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7

As a GST impact, iPhone 7 (256GB storage variant) was available at Rs 92,000 post GST, but is now up for sale on the company website at Rs 85,400, which is almost Rs 6,600 lesser. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 32GB and 128GB were earlier available at a price tag of Rs 72,000 and Rs 82,000 respectively. Post GST, both the variants of the iPhone 7 are now available for buying at Rs 67,300 and Rs 76,200. This means that the iPhone 7 with 32GB storage gets a price but of up to Rs 4,700, while the 128GB variant price is slashed by Rs 5,800.

... earlier available at Rs 60,000, now with the coming of GST, the handset is available at Rs 56,200. With that, iPhone 7 (32GB) gets a price cut of Rs 3,800. On the other hand, the 128GB and 256GB were available at Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000. Now, both the models are available at Rs 65,200 and Rs 74,400. This means that iPhone 7 128GB and 256GB models get a price cut of Rs 4,800 and Rs 5,600 respectively.

iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6s

iPhone 6s Plus (32GB) was earlier priced at Rs 60,000, post GST implementation the device is now available at Rs 56,100, which means that the handset gets a price slashed by up to Rs 3,900. While on the other hand, the 128GB storage variant of the iPhone 6s Plus was earlier available at Rs 70,000, and now it is available at Rs 65,000.

After GST, iPhone 6s 32GB and 128GB are available at Rs 46,900 and Rs 55,900 respectively. iPhone 6s with 32GB storage was earlier priced at Rs 50,000, while the 128GB variant was available at Rs 60,000.

iPhone SE

iPhone SE - 32GB and 128GB post GST were available in India at Rs 27,200 and Rs 37,200 respectively. Now, after the GST implementation, both the models get a price cut and are available at Rs 26,000 (32GB) and Rs 35,000 (128GB). Apple has already started selling the "Made-in-India" iPhone SE in select retail outlets. "Apple is selling iPhone SE in India at select stores. These phones were assembled in India on trial basis in limited quantities," an industry source told PTI.

Apart from the iPhones, other Apple products like - MacBook Air (13.3-inch), MacBook, and MacBook Pro also gets a price cut and are available at a starting price of Rs 77,200, Rs 1,04,800 and Rs 1,04,900 respectively. Apple iMac series which include -- 27-Inch iMac, iMac (21.5-inch), Mac Mini and Mac Pro prices are also slashed.

Apple iPad series

iPad (9.7-inch) with Wi-Fi is available in three variants in India -- 32GB and 128GB which pre GST were available at Rs 28,900 and Rs 36,900. After the price cut, both the iPad (9.7-inch) with 32GB is now available Rs 28,000 and while the 128Gb si available at Rs 35,700. iPad mini 4 with 128GB Wi-Fi was earlier available at Rs 34,900, after the price cut the device is available at Rs 33,800. While the iPad mini 4 (128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular) is now available at Rs. 44,500, which was earlier priced at Rs 45,900.

iPad Pro (10.5-inch) with Wi-Fi support and 64GB was earlier priced at Rs 52,900, 256GB was available at Rs 60,900, while the 512GB was priced at Rs 76,900, the devices are now available at Rs 50,800, Rs 58,300 and Rs 73,900 respectively. iPad Pro (12.5-inch) also gets a price cut. iPad Pro (12.5-inch) 64GB was earlier priced at Rs 65,900, 256GB was available at Rs 73,900, and the 512GB costed around Rs 89,900. After the price cut, the iPad Pro (12.5-inch) with 64GB is available at Rs 63,500, 256GB at Rs 70,900 and 512GB variant at Rs 86,400.

Apple MacBook series

MacBook Air (13.3-inch) with 128GB SSD is now available at Rs 77,200 which was earlier available at Rs 80,900. While on the other hand, MacBook (12.0-inch) with 1.2GHz was earlier available at Rs 1,09,900 and is now priced at Rs 1,04,800. MacBook (12.0-inch) with 1.3GHz after GST is priced at Rs 1,28,700, which was earlier priced at Rs 1,34,900. MacBook Pro (13.3-inch) prices also gets slashed, which earlier was available at a starting price of Rs 1,09,900, is now available to teh consumers at a starting cost of Rs 1,04,900.
