Can-Net Telecom offers our customers scalability and flexibility when it comes to our packages and pricing. Whether you are an FTTN or Cable Internet user we allow our customers to upgrade their speed if they feel are surpassing their bandwidth capacity.

What is the Cost?

• Cable upgrading/downgrading cost: onetime fee of $25.
• DSL upgrading/downgrading cost: onetime fee of $25.
• Transferring from Cable to FTTN/ FTTN to Cable: onetime fee of $65.

The reason we incur these costs is because we are a TPIA (Third party Internet Access) provider; thus, we are charged for any technical work done by the proprietary ISP (Internet Service Provider). The reason switching from one technology to the other costs significantly more is that it is treated as a new installation by the ISP; thus the charge and expenses are higher.

When Should I Increase My Speed?

Although all Can-Net services and packages are completely unlimited, that does not mean you cannot surpass your bandwidth restrictions. The main reason people increase their internet speed is because the amount of information ...
... a user is trying to pull off the web is too overwhelming for their current bandwidth; some tell tale signs are buffering, loading an freezing.

Reasons for Congestion

Congestion can be caused by a number of factors such as:

• The amount of people using the internet
• The amount of devices running simultaneously
• The amount of people using a cable internet connection in your neighborhood or building

Step 1:

Call a live Can-Net agent at: +1-(800)-208-7798 to inform us that you would like to increase your internet speed. We will open up a ticket and give you a reference number.

You can also have a technician review your usage to see if the issue is being caused by bandwidth over capacity, or if it is a different issue.
Please keep in mind a speed change take anywhere between 2-5 days depending on the proprietary ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Step 2:

Often times when you increase your internet speed you will need to be sent a compatible modem to handle the bandwidth capacity. This will shipped through Canada Post and can take anywhere between 24-48 hours depending on where you are located. There will be a onetime fee of $9.99 + tax for this charge, which will also include the return label for your old device.

Step 3:

Once you have received notification from Can-Net that the speed change has successfully taken place, you can replace your old modem with the new one and your new speed should be up and running. Please remember to use the return label to send back your old equipment so that you will not be charged.

Require Further Information?

If you require any further information regarding our speed change policy please feel free to contact us at: +1-(800)-208-7798 and one of our agents will be glad to answer any questions you may have and guide you through the procedure.
