Alwar is a city in the Alwar District of Rajasthan, the North- Western State of India. It is located around 160 km from Delhi, and 150 km from Jaipur, the state capital. Alwar District comes under Delhi National Capital Region. In British India, Alwar was known as "Ulwar". Alwar is a famous tourist destination, with a number of historical monuments and interesting places. The picturesque Aravali Hills and serene lakes add more charm to this historic city. The 18th century City Palace of Alwar is a fine blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Rani Moosi Chhatri, the two storied cenotaph, within the City Palace fascinates the tourists with its architectural brilliance. Purjan Vihar (earlier known as Company Gardens) is an excellent picnic spot in Alwar. This lush green garden is adjacent to the City Palace. The Alwar Government Museum established in 1908 is a must visit in Alwar. This museum has a rich collection of arts and artifacts. Bala Qila (young fort) in Alwar is a beautiful fort on a hill top which can be entered through six gates namely Jai Pol, Suraj Pol, Laxman Pol, Chand Pol, Krishan Pol and Andherl Gate. An important attraction in Alwar is the Tomb of Fateh Jung, which is a fine example of architectural grandeur. Siliserh Lake is located 13 kms from the city centre and is a great stopover before moving to the Sariska Tiger Reserve. Nestled in the Aravali Hills, this prestigious park famous for its Bengal Tigers is spread in 866 km². Sariska is also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. 17th-century Kankarwadi Fort built by Jai Singh II and the ancient temple of Lord Hanuman at Pandupole are located inside Sariska National Park. Private vehicles can enter the park only on Tuesdays and Saturdays to visit Pandupole and its Hanuman temple, which is believed to be associated with Pandavas. Narayani Mata Temple, the sacred pilgrimage site of Sain Samaj, is located on the edge of Sariska National Park. Jagannath Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu is famous for its annual Rath Yatra festival where Lord Jagannath is carried in a chariot called Indra Vimana. Vijay Mandir Palace built in 1918 by Maharaja Jai Singh is a stunning palace with artistically orchestrated interiors. This palace is located about 10 kms away from Alwar city. Vijay Sagar Lake adjoining the palace and the temple dedicated to Lord Rama and Sita in the premises are the other attractions here. Talvrakash, Bhartrihari Temple, Bhangarh, Neemrana, Tijara Jain Temple, Neelkanth and Naldeshwar are the other nearby attractions, which can be easily reached from Alwar. Bareilly (earlier known as Sanjashya) is a city in the Bareilly district of the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Situated on the banks of Ramganga River, this bustling city is about 252 km from Lucknow and 250 km from New Delhi. Jagat Singh Katehriya founded Bareilly in 1537. This city is also known as Bans Bareilly. Bareilly is a major trading centre of cotton, cereal and sugar. Bareilly has a significant place in the history of Indian struggle for Independence. The great epic Mahabharata mentions Bareilly as the birthplace of the legendary figure Draupadi. Bareilly is known far and wide for its ancient temples. Alakha Nath, Trivati Nath, Madhi Nath and Dhopeshwar Nath are the four Nath (Shiva) temples in Bareilly situated on the four corners of the city. Because of these temples, Bareilly is also known as Nath Nagri. Some of the other ancient centres of religious importance in Bareilly are Tapeshwar Nath Temple, Kanker Kuan Nath, Jagannath Temple, Tulsi Math, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Bara Bagh Hanuman Mandir,and Sai Mandir. Ganga Temple, the Church of North India, the Christ Methodist Church, and Bibi Ji ki Masjid are other important religious centres in Bareilly. Radha Madhav Sankirtan Mandal, has its head quarters in Bareilly. The world renowned International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is constructing a big temple in Bareilly. Bareilly is noted for the Dargah of Ahmed Raza Khan Fazil-e-Barelvi (1856–1921 CE), whose Razwi Silsila of Sufism is famous worldwide. This Dargah is also known as "Bareilly Shareef". Bareilly is home to Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), India's premier advanced research facility in the field of veterinary medicine and allied branches. Central Avian Research Institute (CARI) established in 1979 is in Bareilly. Fun City Boond Amusement and Water Park located on Pilibhit By-pass Road in Bareilly attracts a lot of visitors. With state of the art entertainment facilities and adventure rides, this is considered as the biggest Amusement and Water Park in Uttar Pradesh. The Clara Swain Hospital founded by Dr. Clara Swain in the early 1870s is located in Bareilly. This Hospital is the "oldest and largest Methodist hospital in India". The army Service Corps Museum and the Panchala Museum are the two famous museums in Bareilly which are worth visiting. The Ramnagar Fort, located around 25 km from Bareilly is a popular tourist destination. The Bareilly Bazaar is very famous among tourists and offers a wonderful shopping experience. Bareilly is well-connected with the rest of India by road and rail. Six railway stations serve the city of Bareilly. Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi is the nearest International airport to Bareilly. Pantnagar airport, about 70 km north of Bareilly, is the nearest domestic airport with flights only to New Delhi. Secunderabad, a well developed city in the state of Andhra Pradesh was established in 1806 AD. It is the twin city of Hyderabad with Hussain Sagar Lake separating the twin cities. The city is populated with people from different states of India belonging to different cultures and religions. There are many heritage and historical monuments, gardens, lakes, parks, entertainment centers, museums and palaces to visit in Secunderabad. Mecca Masjid is an ancient mosque constructed 400 years ago by Qutub Shahi Sultan. The unique part of the mosque is that the three rounded faces of the mosque are designed from single granite. Charminar with four elegant minarets was constructed by the king Muhammed Quli Qutb Shah to commemorate the loss of plague victims. Golconda fort is one of the outstanding and strongest forts of India placed on a hill. The Qutb Shahi Tombs with huge domes, subtle marble carvings, large minarets and various inner routes reflects the Deccan architecture. Religious places such as Spanish Mosque, Birla Mandir, Sanghi temple, Jagannath temple and the Chilkur Balaji temple are popular in Secunderabad. The Spanish mosque reflecting the Spanish architecture is a popular mosque in the city constructed in 1906. Birla Mandir constructed completely with white marble on a hill top is a place where lord venkateswara is worshipped by Hindus. The Chilkur Balaji temple is a very old temple where Lord Balaji is worshipped. Ancient palaces like the Chowmahalla Palace, Asman Garh palace, King Kothi palace and Falaknuma Palace are worth visiting in the city. Each of these palaces is built with different architectures. The Asman Garh Palace reflects the Gothic architecture and looks similar to European medieval palace. The Falaknuma palace reflecting the Italian architecture was built completely using the Italian marble. This palace is being renovated by Taj group in to heritage hotel. Salar Jung museum, AP state archaeological museum, Birla science museum and the city museum are some of the museums in Secunderabad with huge collection of historical artifacts. There are also a number of gardens and parks in the city such as the KBR park, NTR gardens, Lumbini Park, Indira Park and public gardens. Ramoji Film city, a theme park and a film studio is one of the most popular tourist spots in Asia. It is credited as the largest film studio in the world and is included in the Guinness Book of World Records. Besides these there are many resorts in the outskirts of the city. Pushkar is a town in the Ajmer district which is in the state of Rajasthan. It is situated at about 14 kilometres in the northwest of Ajmer. Situated at an average elevation of about 519 meters above sea level, the city of Pushkar is one among the Char Dham according to the Hindu Theology. The Katas Raj Temple near Pushkar has great importance among the Hindu devotees. Pushkar which lies on the banks of the Pushkar Lake is one among the oldest existing cities in India. According to the legends, Lord Brahma is accredited to the origin of this place. The Pushkar Camel Fair which is an annual fair in Pushakar is very famous among the tourists. There are two possibilities for the etymology of the name Pushkar. One is that it came from the word, Pushkarni which means Lake and Pushpa which means flower and Kar which means Hand. It is believed that it is in Pushkar that the flower fell from the swan's beak when it was sent to find a place where Lord Brahma can perform a grand yaga. Pushkar has many temples that was been rebuilt after their destruction by the Muslim conquest.The most famous among all is the Brahma Templebuilt during the 14th century. This is because only few temples in the world are dedicated to Lord Brahma.The Pushkar Lake has 52 Ghats where pilgrims descend to the lake to bathe in the sacred waters. There are many places to see in Pushkar. The Sri Sawai Bhoj Temple, Jagat Pita Shri Brahma temple, Varaha temple, Apteshwar Mahadev temple, Savitri temple, Baba the Cosmic Barber,Temple of Rangji (New and Old) or Shri Vaikunthnathji, Man Mahal, Gurudwara Singh Sabha, and the Varah Templeare the main places to visit in Pushkar. Pushkar Fair is an important fair of Pushkar that attracts a lot of tourists every year to the city.Pushkar fair continues for five days and these five days are the busiest days for the villagers of Pushkar.This is one of the largest cattle fairs in the country. Over 50,000camels are brought from miles around to be traded and sold. Specialstalls are set up for selling finery and jewelry for the camels. Camels at the Pushkar fair are decorated with great care. They wear jewelry of silver and beads. Number of hotels like Jagat Palace Pushkar are there to welcome the tourists. The rugged terrain of the Great Indian Desert can be explored by the tourists who visit Pushkar by using the camels that are available for a ride through the Thar Desert. Shoghi is a small town near Shimla situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Shoghi is at about 13 kilometers beforereaching Shimla on the Ambala Shimla National Highway. At about 5 km from here is the road to the Taradevi temple which is on the hilltop. Shoghi is also famous for being a halt on the way to Shimla. There are a lot of food chains and Dhabas in Shoghi where buses halt regularly. There is the availability of flats, guest houses, hotels in Shoghi for the travellers to stay if needed. Shoghi is famous among the tourists for its picturesque surroundings. Shoghi is nestled in the quaint, lush green, hills of Himachal Pradesh, just 13 kilometers away from Shimla. The buildings and houses of Shoghi that are pre-dominantly pink and yellow in colorcaptivate the minds of the travellers. The sloping tin roofs add a touch of natural grandeur to the picturesque surroundings of Shoghi. Disrespect towards nature by its visitors and the inefficiency of the authorities in preventing the littering to a great extent has paved way for the present condition of Shoghi. The housing board society is now making attempts to clean up the surroundings. One who visits Shoghi now is distressed to see the condition of this once beautiful place. The road signals and signs, the location of the blocks, are all so poorly maintained that a second thought to visit this place is mandatory. Security is also an issue. Trekking and camping are the main activities that can be enjoyed by the tourists who visit Shoghi.
