Blackberry Torch Cell Phone Review By: Gilbert E. Baldwin
Blackberry Torch 9800 offers you three input option; the touchscreen, the trackpad and the slider keyboard. Unlike other sliders, the keyboard slides out smoothly with just a touch of your thumb. Physical keyboard has been added as people often faced problem tapping the screen especially those with thick fingers. Torch 9800 enables you to use the phone single-handedly whether typing or using the trackpad. The trackpad especially comes handy as it lets you accurately click small links on webpages. Another advantage of the physical keypad is that there is more room for a touchscreen display. The screen itself is smart and sensitive; it is highly responsive and is extremely well-designed.
The voice quality of the Blackberry Torch 9800 is excellent and with its ability to keep you connected during a call is definitely something we demand as consumers. The built in noise cancellation feature eliminate background noise effectively. Above all the opening or closing of the slider does not affect the voice quality what so ever.
The reason why people especially business people opt for a Blackberry Torch is that it brings all their contacts to the fingertips. It is an excellent device for those who constantly e-mail, message and browse the web. RIM has resolved the browsing issue in its previous models by including a web browser kit in the Blackberry Torch 9800. Now you can switch between various web pages, zoom in and out and enjoy the full experience of desktop like web browsing and complete html e–mail rendering. It also lets you wrap the text so that it fits the screen making it easy to read. You can access multiple sites and with the Universal Search option, you can locate your favorite video or scan your internet, e-mails, folders, applications and music.
Blackberry Torch 9800 comes with an inpressive 5 MP camera. The camera captures minute details and colors well and comes with features like autofocus, geo tagging, face detection and more. It also gives you more control with options like Sports, Text, Portrait, Night and Party Modes.
Torch 9800 also carries the new Social Feeds app which brings together Facebook, Google Talk, Twitter, My Space, Blackberry Messenger, and Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger all in a single place making it easier to view them either individually or collectively. This feature allows you to create new posts and post them to as many feeds as you like.
Torch 9800 will not disappoint you on the media front as well. It comes with podcast applications for locating and managing audio and video podcast and the YouTube application makes viewing and sharing videos simpler than before.
Torch 9800 is backed by a powerful battery and RIM has been pretty generous on the memory front with memory capacity up to 512 MB and 4 GB of built in storage space for your files and an additional 4 GB microSD card; the external memory can be expanded by replacing the 4 GB card with a 32 GB one.
The Blackberry Torch 9800 lives up to its reputation of being a smartphone. With the Blackberry 6 as the OS, it has overcome the hurdles that the Blackberry mobile phones faced in the past. Universal Search, Webkit browser, voice activated dialing, Bluetooth, multimedia and text messaging, access to BBM, Facebook, My Space and Twitter, Tri-band 3G connectivity and GPS navigation are some salient features of this device which have given it an edge over its competitors.

With Blackberry Pearl, RIM (Research In Motion) has launched a new series of slim and stylish phones with advanced features. This candy bar handset is designed to meet the professional needs of the users. Attractive and practical, the Blackberry Pearl fits snugly in your palm and has a nice firm grip.
After the makeover, the latest member of the Pearl family 3G 9100 sports an upgraded HVGA display, an optical trackpad, a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and also holds the distinction of hosting Wi-Fi 802. You can e-mail, send SMS and after downloading the RIM application you get Twitter, Google Talk, Facebook, LinkedIn and a multitude of communication options. You can download and post pictures and web browsing is exceptionally good on this sleek little device.
The 2.3 inch, 360x400 LCD display is sharp and bright. The optical trackpad which replaces the trackball makes navigation faster and easier. The reason RIM added two letters per key, known as a (SureType keyboard) was to make typing quicker and error free. This new keyboard is set in the QWERTY format and works with real time software which automatically interprets the keystrokes and recognizes the words making texting and e-mailing a lot faster and more accurate.
A media player is included for pictures, videos and music and though it will not make the music lovers swoon over, with up to 30 hours of music playing, it will not disappoint them either. The media keys are conveniently mounted along the top of the set and up to a 32 GB micro SD card gives enough storage space for media files. The Pearl 9100 also has support for Blackberry Media Sync for smooth syncing of photos as well as iTunes. The inclusion of the 3.2 megapixel camera with a flash and auto focus has enhanced the picture and video recording quality. The call quality of the Blackberry Pearl 9100 will not let you down either. It has the same superior quality Blackberry smartphones are known for and with a strong connection; dropped calls are next to zero. The new Wi-Fi n, hoped to increase the speed of data transfers; though the speed has increased, it is more modest than significant.
The Blackberry Pearl 3G 9100 comes equipped with a 2.1 Bluetooth with stereo audio capabilities and you can use the phone as a modem by connecting it via a USB to your PC. The modest 256 megabyte memory fails to impress but the rechargeable and removable 1150 mAhr battery makes up for this defect by providing around 5.5 hours of talk time on the 3G networks. Other features of the amazing Blackberry Pearl 9100 are voice activated dialing, a speaker phone and a 3.5mm headphone socket.
Conclusion
The Blackberry Pearl 3G 9100 is a slim, sleek and stylish smartphone which fits easily in your pocket. The Sure Type keyboard with its ability to predict the words is a wonderful addition to the Pearl as is the optical trackpad. The screen though small is bright with vibrant colors. Web browsing is outstanding and the media player and the support for Blackberry media sync are some of its plus points as is the long battery life. Message apps provide access to messages from Blackberry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter and other e-mail accounts. The Blackberry Pearl 3G 9100 provides the complete Blackberry experience in a small package at an affordable price.
